FAQ's
We would say ~95% of our members come to us 10+ years after they thought they’d retired from cheerleading. There’s no time like the present to jump back in! Always wanted to be a cheerleader but never had the opportunity? NOW IS YOUR CHANCE! No experience required to join Cheer Austin!
Yes, this is an adult volunteer organization. All members must be 18 years or older. But if you are thinking “I’m too old.” Nope! We have members of all ages 18 - 45+.
There is a yearly financial contribution of $200 and a uniform cost of approximately $250.
We have two performing squads - Cheer Austin Stunt and Cheer Austin Pom. Both squads participate in all of our performance and fundraising opportunities. Both teams will cheer and perform cadences. Stunt focuses on group and partner stunts, pyramids and basket tosses, while Pom focuses on pom routines and hip hop dances.

Please bring your ID and a copy of your health insurance card. We will need both of these for the liability waiver. Wear athletic wear to clinics - athletic shoes (white if you have them), black bottoms and a black top. Flyers are required to have cheerleading shoes.
Performance is a team effort and requires regular attendance from all performing members. Attendance requirements will be discussed further at clinics. We practice weekly on Wednesdays from 8:15 pm –10:30 pm, with certain holidays off throughout the year. In addition, there are several mandatory performances throughout the year, which could require a half to a full day of your time, depending on call times.
We are looking for individuals who support our cause. Cheer Austin uses cheerleading as a vehicle to raise funds to support the LGBTQIA+ community. We also expect you to have consistent attendance, possess a willingness to learn, the ability to follow through on commitments, and a smile to inspire the crowds.
